Lap: May or August?

I have a question for all of you! We are debating on doing the lap in early May or early August. Which do you think would be better?
Pros of May: More months this year to get pregnant, sooner
Cons of May: May have less summer to enjoy
Pros of August: More months to save money, farther away(yes I consider this a pro because Im terrified of surgery)
Cons of August: FARTHER AWAY!! lol less months before the end of the year.

HELP ME. Any suggestions? Hubs is ok with either, I just dont wanna risk losing my summer, yet I dont wanna wait!!

  1. Forgive me for not knowing this lady, but is this your first lap? If so, I just want to give you some encouragement for May - you should NOT lose your summer! I have had both of my laps on a Thursday so far. I've been off pain meds by Saturday both times, and back to work by Monday. I would say within 2 weeks, I was back to feeling 100% both times. This next lap I'm having is the most extensive I've had yet, and as of right now I'm planning on attempting to fly home 3 days later and be back to work 6 days later.

Now, obviously everyone is different and heals different, and I don't want to discount that. But I've honestly been really pleasantly surprised with how quickly I have bounced back both times. They give these extensive recovery times, but the truth is that if you are otherwise healthy - you will probably be back to feeling like yourself much sooner.

If this IS your first lap and you have any questions at all, please feel free to e-mail me any time. If it's not though, and I basically just insulted you by bragging about how quickly I healed when you in fact had a rough time in the past - I am SO sorry! I usually try not to be such an ass! ;)

  2. Hmm, that's a tough one! If it were me, I'd probably do it asap!
Hey, I gave you a little award on my blog :-)

  3. Personally I would do it in may, i'm pretty sure this is your first one to answer SIF's question in the previous comment.

The hurt and pain of waiting until August to get this done and then healing before trying can bring you into september... I can tell you and hubs are havig a hard time taknig a break now as it is because of all these med issues. So i say May get it done and dont worry about loosing your summer IF you do loose it ie being preggers :) that is a very good reason to loose the summer. If you are thinknig of loosing it because the surgury takes a while to recover i dont think t would take 3 months! i would guess more at most 3 weeks... just sayin!

Good luck pray about it God will let you know what road you need to take!

  4. May all the way! Get it over with, and then you can actually enjoy your summer, instead of wondering what the lap will reveal. And yes, more time to be productively TTC!

  5. I vote for May to get it out of the way. ;)

The lap really shouldn't put you out of commission for too long. I had mine on a Friday, only took one pain pill on Sunday, worked half a day on Monday, and was completely fine and back to work by Tuesday. I was even given the okay to have sex as soon as I felt up to it...was probably around that Tuesday? The incisions heal really quickly, too, so by the time summer is here, you should be fine to swim or whatever.

    Good luck!
